spindrift Sparkling Orange Mango Soda

It has become a habit or a routine to grab something to drink whenever I go grocery shopping. This weekend I was at Berkeley Bowl and the spindrift sparkling soda grabbed my attention. Actually anything with sedimentation always grab my attention, but this one in a good way. After reading the label and knowing that what's at the bottom is actually mango puree, I decided to give it a try.

This beverage has no added flavors meaning that its flavor comes from the mango puree and orange juice that was added. And this vivid yellow color is colored by fresh fruit juice instead of artificial coloring, which they probably added a lot that's why it's so bright to compensate for the color fade that is prone to happen under light and heat.

What I love about this drink:
  • Love the fresh alfonso mango taste
  • Love that it's refreshing
  • Love that it's a right balance of sweet so it's not cloying
  • Love the flavor combination
What I don't like about this drink:
  • Orange taste is weak, I would love to taste a bit more of it
  • It was pricy! $2.99 for a 355ml bottle.
Cheers,

Lemonint- Mint Infused Strawberry Lemonade

I have to admit that I have a soft spot for strawberry lemonade. I got completely hooked every since having it for the first time at Cheesecake Factory, and I can't resist ordering it every single time I visit the restaurant.

Anyway, I came across Lemonint Strawberry lemonade today at Berkeley Bowl. My initial feeling when I saw it was, it looks a bit dark like a tea than "normal" strawberry lemonade. But I was interested in the "mint infused" part, so I give it a try.

Overall, it tastes like a super sweet mint drink with a trace of lemon and strawberry taste. While I like that the mint flavor is refreshing, the sweetness has made the drink very cloying. And the fact that it lacks any lemonade feel (lemony and acidic) and there is little to none strawberry taste to it, it's a big disappointment to me.

What I love about this drink:
  • Use real ingredients like organic mint leave and strawberry puree
  • Limited ingredients
  • Fresh mint flavors that does not taste like chewing gum or toothpaste
What I don't love about this drink:
  • 44g of sugar per 16 oz bottle (Coke has 39 g of sugar per 12 oz, which translate to 52g of suger per 16 oz)
  • The taste
Cheers!
